Brian Reid. www.brianreidfurniture.com Internationally renowned, American furniture designer/maker and teacher,Brian Reid who will mentor and guide you for the following 5 weeks. He will take you through the process of making a small to medium size cabinet of your choice. Much of Brian’s work stands alone in the world of decorative marquetry, with little else to compare it with, and is identified by its unique blend of colourful patterns and pierced fretwork. These techniques, amongst many in Brian’s repertoire of skills, will be shared in this course.
David Upfill-Brown. www.davidupfillbrown.com For the final 5 weeks, another world famous designer maker/ teacher David Upfill-Brown will take you through the process of designing and making a chair of your own design. David’s chairs grace Australia’s Parliament building and many private collections around the world. His current work is quite sculptural, perhaps harking back to his carving days in the late seventies, and is often made using laminations. David’s teaching career spans many years, more recently, five as principal of the Australian School of Fine Furniture, and four as lead instructor at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine, USA. Presently he shares his time between Sturt School for Wood, and the CFC in Maine. We are proud to announce that he can now add ESCA to that list!
Classes will run Monday to Friday each week, 9am to 4.30pm (you will have unsupervised access to work at your bench from 8am to 6pm weekdays) This is truly a rare opportunity to fast-track your woodworking skills with some of the world’s most highly acclaimed makers.
